Is it OK for Christians to believe that the events in the book of Enoch actually happened?

The book of Enoch is considered canonical only by the Ethiopian Orthodox Catholic Church. As to whether "it really happened" considering the nature of this and other books of the time written in the apocalyptic genre, most likely the stories contained in it contain conceptual symbolism that reveals theological truths and any strict literal exegesis is most likely erroneous.
