West Nile??!! HELP!!!?

i just got a mosquito bite, and there is alot of west nile virus where i live. my father knows someone who almost died from it, and he was strong and healthy before. i wear bugspray every time i go out, but i cant avoid mosquitos while im sleeping. I'm so scared of getting sick! Is there anything i could do to avoid it this time? What are my chances of getting west nile?
