How to heal canker sores and the roof of the mouth?

ok well i have had this soreness in the roof of my mouth on one side for about 3 days now. i think its a canker sore cause its all red and its so painful. ive used oraljel for 2 days but its not doing anything. i cant eat or anything its really annoying. how can i make it heal?
