Does God need an update?

God should know how forgetful we are, why doesn't he show himself to us again an reaffirm our faith? It's a little convenient, isn't it, that we are just expected to follow his "word" (which, ironically, was written by men) blindly based on the words of a bunch of prophets who claimed to have spoken to him? I hope that you all realize that blind faith will lead you to fall off many a cliff in your lifetime. The Germans followed Hitler blindly because they thought that he could solve all of their problems too, and I think you all know how that turned out. Why can't we abolish religion, and just keep our individual beliefs instead? No one out there has the right answer, so why do you need to go to a church to find the answers?
