What are your thoughts on Gabriel Faure as a composer?Is Faur� the "missing link" between Brahms and Debussy?

After reading Nemesis incredible answer (beautifully written), there is nothing much for me or anybody else to add. But as you asked us for our thoughts on Faur� as a composer, I will say this: the few works I have listened to of his have all been inspired - meaning that he was a composer of the highest order. The Requiem is for me one of the greatest pieces ever written.
